How we write these guides
Short version: we would rather tell you a program does not exist than get your click.
Sources
Cost ranges come from published national estimates (Fixr, Retirement Living, NerdWallet, Bankrate and similar), dated on each page, and are labelled as estimates. Benefit rules come from the program itself (Medicare.gov, state Medicaid agencies, va.gov, IRS Publication 502) or from research organisations that study them (KFF, AARP). Market facts come from the National Association of Home Builders and the US Census Bureau. Every page lists its sources.
Review
Pages about insurance, Medicare, Medicaid and the VA are reviewed by a licensed health and life insurance agent before publication and when rules change. Pages about construction are checked against the Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) curriculum and, as our network grows, by CAPS remodelers and occupational therapists named on the page.
What we never publish
- A claim that Medicare pays for a walk-in tub, a bathroom remodel or a stair lift. It does not.
- “Free government program” language of any kind. Where a real program exists, we name it, link to it, and say who qualifies.
- Invented statistics, invented testimonials, or a price presented as a quote.
- Medical advice. We say when to ask the doctor or occupational therapist, and we stop there.
Corrections
If something on this site is wrong, email hello@aginginplaceremodelers.com. We fix errors on the page and note the date it changed.
How the matching affects the writing
Remodelers pay a flat monthly fee to be the one we send requests to in their county. They do not see or approve the guides, they cannot buy a mention, and they are never named as a recommendation inside an article.
