Privacy policy
Effective October 12, 2026. Written to be read. The short version: your match request goes to one remodeler and to nobody else; advertising cookies run only if you allow them; you can see, fix, delete or opt out at any time.
1. Who we are
Aging in Place Remodelers (“we”, “us”) is operated by OKNH LLC, PO Box 216, 7 E Frederick St, Walkersville, MD 21793. Email: hello@aginginplaceremodelers.com. This policy covers aginginplaceremodelers.com and any request you send through it.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- A match request: the project type, the home’s ZIP code and, if you give it, street and city; who the home is for; what prompted the request; your timeline; whether the home is owned or rented; how you expect to pay; your name, phone number, email, best time to call; anything you type in the notes.
- A remodeler application: business name, contact name, phone, email, counties served, licence and CAPS details, website, notes.
- Email you send us.
Information collected automatically
- With every visit: IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the page that referred you, and the date and time, through our hosting provider’s logs and privacy-respecting analytics that do not use cookies.
- With a request: the date, time, page, IP address and browser, kept with the consent sentence you agreed to, so we can prove the request came from you.
- To suggest a ZIP code: our hosting provider turns your IP address into an approximate location, and the request form starts with the nearest ZIP code filled in. You can change it, and the suggestion itself is not stored.
- Only if you allow them: analytics and advertising cookies and pixels, described in section 5 and in our cookie policy.
Information from others
The remodeler we match you with may tell us whether they reached you and whether the project went ahead, so we can measure the service and refund a remodeler for a request outside their area.
3. Sensitive information
Some answers in the request form touch on health: whether a recent fall, a hospital discharge or a diagnosis prompted the request, and who the home is for. We treat those answers as sensitive. We use them for one purpose only, matching your request with a remodeler who does that kind of work, and we pass them only to that remodeler. We never use them for advertising, never sell or share them, and never build profiles from them. You can skip those questions; the match still works. Please do not send medical records, diagnoses or insurance policy numbers, and we will not ask for them.
4. Why we use your information
- To match a request with one certified aging-in-place remodeler serving your area, and to send it to them.
- To keep a record of your consent to be contacted, and to close your request when you ask.
- To answer your emails and follow up if a remodeler does not.
- To run, secure and improve the site, and to see which guides help.
- To review remodeler applications and run the remodeler network.
- If you allow advertising cookies: to measure our ads and show them to people like our readers (section 5).
- To meet legal obligations and enforce our terms.
5. Cookies, analytics and advertising
Essential cookies run the site and remember your cookie choice. Nothing else loads until you choose on the banner, and a browser sending the Global Privacy Control signal is treated as a refusal without asking.
- Analytics. Our hosting provider’s analytics count page views without cookies and without identifying you. If you allow analytics cookies and we have Google Analytics enabled, Google sets cookies to recognise repeat visits and reports usage to us in aggregate.
- Advertising. If you allow advertising cookies, we may run Google Ads conversion tracking and remarketing and the Meta (Facebook and Instagram) Pixel. These tell Google and Meta that a browser visited a page or submitted a form, so we can measure ads and show ours to similar audiences. They receive your IP address, browser details, the pages you viewed and an event such as “request submitted”. They do not receive the contents of your request: not your name, phone, email, project or health answers. Google and Meta use what they receive under their own policies.
- Your choices. Change your mind any time with “Cookie preferences” in the footer, on the do not sell or share page, or by sending the Global Privacy Control signal. The full list of cookies is in the cookie policy.
6. Who we share it with
- The matched remodeler. One licensed, insured remodeler serving your ZIP code receives your request, at your direction, so they can contact you about your project. They may use it for nothing else, and they must stop when you ask.
- Service providers working for us under contract: hosting and deployment (Vercel), a spreadsheet and email workspace where requests are stored (Google Workspace), an email service for notifications, and the analytics in section 5. They may use your information only to provide the service.
- Advertising partners (Google, Meta), only through the cookies and pixels you allow, and only the browsing and event data described in section 5. California law calls this “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising; you can opt out.
- When the law requires it, to respond to a subpoena, court order or lawful request, to protect someone’s safety, or to enforce our terms.
- If the business changes hands, to a successor who takes on this policy.
We do not sell personal information for money. We do not share your name, contact details, project details or health answers with advertisers, data brokers or lead resellers, and we do not send your request to a list of companies.
7. How long we keep it
Match requests and consent records: 24 months from the request, then deleted. Remodeler applications: as long as the remodeler is in the network and 24 months after. Emails: 24 months. Server logs: 30 days. Aggregated analytics do not identify you. Advertising partners keep what they collect under their own retention periods. Email us at any time to have your request deleted sooner; we confirm when it is done.
8. Your rights, in every state
Whatever state you live in, you can ask us to:
- confirm whether we hold personal information about you and give you a copy in a usable format;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- stop using sensitive answers for anything beyond the match;
- opt out of targeted advertising, the “sale” of personal information and “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising (we do not sell; opt out of sharing on the do not sell or share page or with the Global Privacy Control signal);
- withdraw your consent to be contacted (see how matching works).
How to ask. Email hello@aginginplaceremodelers.com with the request and the name and ZIP code you used, or write to PO Box 216, 7 E Frederick St, Walkersville, MD 21793. We may ask you to confirm the email or phone number on the request so we do not hand your information to someone else. An authorised agent may ask on your behalf with your written permission. We answer within 45 days, and tell you if we need 45 more. We will not treat you differently for exercising a right. If we refuse a request, we tell you why and you may appeal by replying “appeal” within 60 days; we answer the appeal within 45 days and tell you how to reach your state attorney general if you still disagree.
9. Notices for particular states
California
In the past 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (name, email, phone, IP address); customer records (address, project details); commercial information (the project requested and how you expect to pay); internet activity (pages viewed, referrer, interactions with the site and with our ads if you allow advertising cookies); approximate location (ZIP code); and sensitive personal information (health-related answers in the request form). Sources: you, your browser, the matched remodeler. Purposes: section 4. Disclosed for a business purpose to: the matched remodeler and our service providers (section 6). “Shared” for cross-context behavioural advertising, only if you allow advertising cookies: identifiers (IP address, cookie IDs) and internet activity, with Google and Meta. Not sold. Retention: section 7. We use sensitive personal information only to match your request, so the right to limit does not change what we do, but you may exercise it anyway. We do not offer financial incentives for personal information. California’s “Shine the Light” law: we do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing.
Virginia, Texas, Utah, Delaware, Maryland and other states with privacy laws
Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws (including Virginia, Texas, Utah, Delaware, Maryland, Colorado, Connecticut, Oregon, Montana, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Iowa, Nebraska, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Minnesota, Rhode Island and Florida) have the rights in section 8, including the right to appeal. We collect only what the match needs, we do not sell personal information, and we do not sell or use sensitive data for advertising. Where a state requires consent before processing sensitive data, ticking the box under the request form and answering the questions is that consent, and you may withdraw it by email. Universal opt-out signals such as the Global Privacy Control are honoured. Several of these laws apply only to businesses above a size threshold; we honour these rights for everyone, in every state, regardless of whether a law requires it.
Visitors outside the United States
The service is for homes in the United States and we do not direct it at other countries. If you visit from the European Union, the United Kingdom or elsewhere, we process your information on the basis of your consent (cookies, the request form) and our legitimate interest in running the site; you have the rights to access, correct, delete, restrict and object, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Email us to exercise any of them.
10. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We honour the Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out from advertising cookies and from the sale or sharing of personal information. Browsers’ older “Do Not Track” setting has no agreed meaning, so we do not act on it; use the banner, the opt-out page or GPC instead.
11. Children
The site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
12. Security
Requests travel over encrypted connections and are stored in access-controlled systems with two-factor authentication. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information we will tell you and the authorities the law requires, without undue delay.
13. Changes
We post changes here with a new effective date. A change that affects how we share information is announced on the request form before it takes effect.
